If you don't know what Echolink
is, sorry look at the Echolink
website. Here is a ARRL
published (01/16/04) article about Echolink.
My view on Echolink:
Is Echolink real radio or not?
In my view Echolink is about as much Amateur radio as the phone patch
is/was. I do have Echolink setup on the computer, but only use it to
find live node numbers. I prefer not to use Echolink via computer. If
I wanted to use my computer for voice chat, I'd probably use a instant
messenger service. I do use Echolink via radio simplex link. Using
this service via radio simplex, gives it the radio "feel".
I have heard Amateur operators
giving "signal" reports to other stations via Echolink! Boy
did I cringe when I heard that.
Where can Jon (KC9AXZ) be reached
via Echolink?:
I have my own node number, but I
never have it operating.
Node # 77245
I can be reached at the AB9FT
146.400 link node.
Node # 84400 (AB9FT-L)
I can also be reached at the WE9R 444.350
repeater link.
Node # 220924 (K9DJT-R)
Just connect up to node number
84400 or 220924, and give a call for me. If you would like to schedule a voice
contact send me a email. I work
nights, so I am unavailable weekdays from 20:00 to 08:00 UTC.
Weekends are pretty much open.
